On December 9, 2023 a technical visit to the ASPROKAT S.A facilities was conducted, in the framework of the “Analysis and Design” MSc Programme.
Students were guided through the production line of prefabricated elements of RC industrial buildings, were informed by the Technical Director Mr. Dimitris Kampolis about the procedure of producing prefabricated elements and were given the opportunity to discuss about the advantages and the challenges of prefabrication. The advantages and the application of prestress in basic building blocks were specially mentioned.
Students also had the opportunity to visit both RC production units as well as the quality control laboratory and were informed about the quality control programme by the Production and Quality Assurance Manager, Mr. Konstantinos Koutsoupias.
Lastly, they attended the presentation by Mr. T. Topitzis, Civil Engineer, on the configuration logic behind the bearing structure of multi-storey and industrial buildings of prefabricated elements of RC and on the relevant regulations. A number of real projects in Greece and abroad with emphasis in configuring connection details and in the construction proceedings were also presented.
The students were escorted by Professors Ch. Zeris and S. Triantafyllou.
